Highlights of 2016

January Our 'Legendary Summer Reading Programme' was a great success with many children enjoying the extra shows and guest stars at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.

An exciting year-long reading programme for children and teens in Rotorua. ‘Read On’ started in February and aims to get Rotorua’s young people stretching their reading muscles in 2016.

March NZ Author Julie Thomas visited our library to launch her new book, and we got our 1st Read On Ambassador, Lizzy Marvelly.  
April Local Reade Nikora joined Lizzy Marvelly as a Read On Ambassador and our Roald Dahl Holiday Programme was a hit. 
May Our first video ever of Library Staff from the Heritage Area made it to Facebook! as did our Running Man!
June Matariki Star Search auditions
July Library move to our "temporary" new library @ 1238 Pukuatua Street
August Family History Month, with Alison Brown
September Rotorua Library is now on Instagram! -- Instagram.com/RotoruaLibrary
October Minecraft Mania took over the Library for the school holidays
November Ben Manly from the Rotorua Lakes Council gave an informative talk on the Fenton Agreement (Rotorua's founding document)
December Get Green summer reading programme began with a popular favourite storyteller "Wonky Donkey"
