Meeting House, Taheke near Okere Falls
The meeting house "Rangitihi" was dedicated as a memorial to the fallen c1951. Intricately carved by the Ngati Tarawhai expert Kaka Niao, assisted by George Emery it was officialy opened by Hon. T. L. McLean. Excerpt from "The New Century of Rotorua" by Don Stafford, p 295.
There is also a memorial stone to Mr Pokiha Hemana (Paramount Chief of the Confederation of Te Arawa Tribes ) at Taheke Marae, Okere Falls. Unveiled 8 May 1982. Mr Hemana died at the age of 77 on 8 May 1981.
