This shoe store/bootmaker operated in Rotorua in 1927 - 1960s and was situated in Tutanekai Street first in the space that has become Kathmandu and previously Woolworths/Deka, then in front of the Thirwell Hotel which was on the corner of Tutanekai and Eruera Streets, the building at that time belonged to Thirwell. It now houses the Bible Museum upstairs and a Handbag Shop at street level (2012-)

The name is Whitley not Whitely.
The man that started the store was Albert James Whitley, the son was Alfred John Whitley.
They came from Rangiora, in the South Island.
I am a Great Grand daughter of Albert Jamkes & my mother is the daughter of the son Alfred John
