Gifted by Society of Prayer for World Peace
Gifted by the "Society of Prayer for World Peace" an organisation founded in Japan. A short article and photograph appeared in the Daily Post on 7 July 1987.
As at 7 July 1987 the pole was situated outside the Rotorua District Council building in Arawa Street, it was later removed to accomodate the new Convention Centre and was not put back once the building work had finished, however it seems it was finally relocated to the Ikeda-Hall Peace Garden in Centennial Park in 2010.
